He’s still on the job after shooting six people, killing three. A state attorney unwilling to prosecute has allowed him to roam free.

Homestead, Florida cop Anthony Green has been at the center of the Miami Dade State Attorney’s race.

Five years ago, Green shot the sixth person of his career killing Edward Foster.

Miami Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle sat on her hands, as usual, refusing to prosecute him.

But a new ray of hope has brought the case to the forefront of the race for the Miami Dade State Attorney.

That ray of hope is lawyer Melba Pearson, who is hoping to dethrone Fernandez-Rundle, her former boss and mentor, who has held the job for 27-years. During those 27-years, Fernandez-Rundle has never prosecuted a police killing.

Pearson, who has served as deputy director for Miami’s American Civil Liberties Union and as Miami-Dade Couny assistant attorney, promises, if elected in the August 18 primary election, she’ll make sure Green faces a jury.

“For years we’ve called on the state attorney’s office and have had no voice. Now we have the voice to speak and the only way to hold people like Officer Green accountable is to have leaders that listen and take action when they see injustice against Black lives,” Edward Foster’s sister, Crystal, told the Miami Herald in a recent interview.

During the summer of 2015, Green shot and killed the father of six at an intersection from inside of his patrol car.

The public doesn’t yet know any of the details of the investigation, because Ferndandez-Rundle’s office has yet to conclude it’s probe, which has remained open for five years.

OFFICER GREEN TROLLS DOC’S FACEBOOK PAGE

In June, True Homestead covered the story detailing how Green was promoted by Homestead Police Chief Al Rolle just six weeks after Foster’s death.

Chief Rolle had told Foster’s family Green was on leave.

However, a Homestead police captain informed the Fosters how Green had actually been not only promoted, but also given a raise.

After publishing the story, officer Green went to the Facebook page of James Eric McDonough, also known as “Doc Justice,” the founder of True Homestead.

Green, who has shot six different people during his career, killing six, accused True Homestad of lacking credibility.

His comments would be funny if it wasn’t such a tragic case of an officer who has taken three lives showing not an ounce of remorse or sorrow for the lives he has taken.

Notice the comment “stay safe.” A police officer who has killed six telling McDonough to “stay safe.”

A veiled threat?

Perhaps….

Green made several more posts requesting we post the investigation packets.

As in, he wanted us to post the investigation of the department investigating itself.

Again, it’d be humorous if it weren’t so tragic.

If only all criminals could investigate themselves and refer to the investigation of their fellow criminals…

Green continued repeating himiself, requesting we post the investigations by other law enforcement entitites.

Not only has the Homestead Police Department not provided records requested by McDonough, it’s important to remember the police chief also, along with the entire Homestead City Counil, lied about Green being placed on leave when, in fact, he was promoted.

What else would they lie about?

Eventually, officer Green turned his attention to myself, the author of the article.

IMPLICATIONS OF THE MIAMI DADE STATE ATTORNEY’S RACE

Family members of Edward Foster have filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, but that only provides a civil remedy and awards damages if the lawsuit is successful.

What about accountability for Green?

If Katherine Fernandez-Rundle wins, it’s near certain Green will escape any measure of accountability within the criminal system even though witnesses saw Foster on the ground with his hands on his head before he was shot.

But the family wants a murder conviction.

“This officer didnt’ know anything about my brother other than the color of his skin,” Crystal Foster told the Miami Herald.

“We want a murder conviction and we want it now.”

That may not happen right now.

But Melba Pearson said she’d assure Green faces a jury if she wins the race for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.

There is no statute of limiations on murder.

The primary election for Miami-Dade State Attorney ends on August 18.
